If you want to control your TV as well as your Shield from 1 remote, get a Harmony 650/655 and a Flirc - note that from what I read on the FLIRC, you need direct line of site (while other IR receivers will work with signal bouncing off walls, apparently the FLIRC won't do this - according to reviews). Your regular remote can control your Shield likely through CEC as your TV likely supports this so the commands to control the Shield with the TV remote go through the HDMI cable from the TV to the Shield I'm guessing, but this is likely the case (the TV remote can also control the Mi Box as that box supports CEC commands - this I know because I can use the TV remote on my Mi Box, and seldom use the Mi Box remote unless an app freezes and I need to hit the home button). Not sure you can pair the Mi Box remote with your Shield - haven't read about this anywhere, nor have I searched, google it. However, the Mi Box has a IR receiver hence can be controlled with a Harmony 650 (or such). The Mi Box remote is not an IR remote, it's a radio freq remote I believe. Mi remote does not pair with the Shield though.Īnyone know what the difference is between this one and version 1? is there different mapping for Kodi then there is for Andriod OS?Īso noticed my regular TV remote can control the Shield without any setup, simply by selection the source on the TV to match that of the Shield. I had to use the terminal command line to record ad. I installed the Flirc GUI within XBMCbuntu, which seemed to record the basic functionality. I used an old MSMC remote and used the Flirc GUI to teach its keys the Flirc commands from the chart. I'm curious to know if anybody running XBMCbuntu (or any other Linux setup) has successfully programmed a Logitech Harmony remote for full functionality. Next, I needed ANY old IR remote laying around to learn the Flirc commands in Tonyskis great chart. If I'd like to use my Mi remote with the shield, can this distinguish between kodi vs android OS applications? I.e. The Harmony One has an canned profile for Flirc, XBMC.
